Quinninup, Manjimup,
Pemberton & surrounds
Quinninup
The settlement is surrounded by giant forest with an abundance of walk trails, including the picturesque 4km Karri Lake loop. From July 2021 the lake will open for passive recreation, BYO bathers, kayaks & SUPs.
Quinninup is peacefully secluded (there is just a pub and post office in town (no shops or petrol)) so we recommend stocking up at Manjimup or Pemberton on the way.
Manjimup
Manjimup, the largest town in the Southern Forests, is the gateway to the region if you’re coming from Perth, and in recent years has been dubbed the Food Bowl of WA. The town hosts many popular events each year (make sure you check the calendar!) and boasts a number of fantastic cafes, restaurants as well as larger supermarkets for staples.
Pemberton
Picturesque Pemberton’s charming township is a favourite among visitors. The main street, with shops and cafes, is perched on a hill while Pemberton Pool, Big Brook Dam and many of the region’s wineries, growers and producers are just a short drive away.
Eat & drink
From truffles and world-class vineyards, to avocado growers and bee keepers, the Southern Forests region is a food lovers playground.
At Millars we love our food and wine, and we’ve taken pride in creating a food lovers’ guide for our guests to ensure your tastebuds sample the best of our region during your stay.
Nature lovers
From the Orchid Walk in Quinninup to the rugged coastline of D’Entrecasteaux National Park adjacent to Windy Harbour, nature lovers will be at home in the Southern Forests. There are 4WD trails and scenic drives fringed by towering forest and rolling hills.
Quinninup is also visited by mountain bikers, with a portion of the renowned Munda Biddi Trail travelling right past the cottage.
Events
From the Truffle Kerfuffle to the Manjimup Cherry Harmony Festival and Karri Valley Triathlon, the region knows how to put on a great event.
For visitors who prefer low-key entertainment, the Quinninup Tavern often has live music or there are good ol’ country style boot scooting and barn dance events in Northcliffe and Deanmill.
